Luis Enrique is one of those players who had the opportunity to play with FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, but his latest statements regarding one of the Clásicos have 'ignited' the culé fans and at FCBN we tell you why

Luis Enrique has made the culés 'angry'. The Spaniard is one of the few who had the opportunity to represent the colors of Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. As a coach, he won the treble in 2015 with the Blaugrana team and most of the fans hold him in high esteem. During his time as coach of 'La Roja' he also won the hearts of the merengue fans, who came to resent him somewhat after changing the Bernabéu for the Camp Nou.

On September 9, Movistar broadcast a Report + called 'Valdano's LaLiga'. This documentary talks about the Argentine coach who won the title with the white club in his first season in Madrid. And while this was being broadcast, many fans of the Blaugrana team criticized some words said by Luis Enrique, who was part of the winning squad, as were other players such as Raúl González or Quique Sánchez Flores.

The words of Luis Enrique that upset the culé fans

All the controversy comes from the Clásicos that were played at that time. On January 8, 1994, Barcelona beat Real Madrid 5-0 on matchday 18 of the league. This defeat was quite hard for the merengues, who took revenge quite quickly. Less than a year later, on January 7, 1995, Valdano's team repeated the result, this time in their favor, at the Santiago Bernabéu.

In that match, Luis Enrique scored one of the goals and this is what he said: "I scored the fourth, did you see how I celebrated it? We gave them back the 5-0, which is always those 'little hands' that help. It was a great moment for us that season," said the current PSG coach on Movistar. These words did not please the Blaugrana fans at all, especially because the Spaniard was the captain of the culé and one of those who gave them the most joy.

However, this is not the first time that the culé fans have shown their discontent with Luis Enrique. A recent moment was in the 2023/24 season, when his PSG eliminated Barça and his effusive celebration did not go down well in Barcelona. But, beyond the misunderstandings, no one can deny that the Spaniard will always be another star in the history of the Blaugrana team.
