FC Barcelona vs Osasuna: the dates on which the match could be rescheduled

FC Barcelona and Osasuna were forced to suspend the match corresponding to matchday 27 of LaLiga EA Sports 2024/25 due to the unexpected death of Dr. Carles Miñarro Garcia, a member of the azulgrana first team. The management of both teams, along with the league, made the decision not to play the match scheduled for 21:00 local time in Montjuïc, a logical decision given the circumstances.

Now, both teams must find a date to play a match that could be crucial for the definition of LaLiga. Barcelona is the leader of the tournament with 57 points, awaiting the results of Atlético de Madrid (56) and Real Madrid (54) this Sunday against Getafe and Rayo, respectively.

Osasuna also has a lot at stake against Barça

The team from Pamplona, on the other hand, remains in the middle of the standings with 33 points (11th). Although they do not yet have guaranteed safety (Alavés, in eighteenth place, has 26 points), the 'rojillos' also have options to qualify for the Conference League, as Betis (6th) only surpasses them by five points (38).

In this sense, the match is very important for both Barça and Osasuna, but the tight azulgrana schedule does not provide many available dates to reschedule it. Hansi Flick's team is still competing in the Copa del Rey and the UEFA Champions League, with very good chances of advancing in their upcoming matches.

LaLiga and Barça are considering two tentative dates for the match

The first option would be to play the match in Montjuïc on the weekend of April 26 and 27, as long as Barça does not advance to the final of the Copa del Rey. The duel in La Cartuja will take place on Saturday, April 26, and if Atlético eliminates the culés (the aggregate is 4-4, awaiting the return leg at the Metropolitano on April 2), it is likely that the match of matchday 27 will end up being played on Sunday the 27th or, alternatively, on Saturday the 26th in the afternoon.

The other option would be to wait for the week of May 19 to 25, just before the end of the season. Matchday 38 will be played entirely on Sunday the 25th, and there are no international matches scheduled for that week. Therefore, Wednesday, May 21 would be an ideal day for Barça-Osasuna, as long as the Catalans' schedule does not provide more breathing room.

Hansi Flick's team is well on their way to qualifying for the Champions quarter-finals, after the victory in Lisbon by 0-1. The quarter-final matches of the top European club competition will take place between Tuesday, April 8 and Wednesday, April 16. The semifinals, in turn, are scheduled for the last week of April and the first week of May, while the final will be on Saturday, May 31 in Munich.
