FC Barcelona is preparing for a thrilling April that could include up to 9 matches across La Liga, Cup, and Champions League

Calendar of FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona will start next Wednesday a grueling month of April where the calendar could bring up to 9 decisive matches for the azulgrana team on the road to the treble. Hansi Flick's team will close the month of March this Sunday against Girona, in matchday 29 of La Liga, a game that comes with only three days of rest for the culés after the victory against Osasuna (3-0).

In April, Barcelona will have to deal with matches with only 72 hours of rest throughout almost the entire month, in a span of four decisive weeks for the resolution of La Liga, the UEFA Champions League, and the Copa del Rey, a tournament whose final is scheduled for Saturday the 26th. In La Liga, there will be four matchdays (12 points) at stake, while in Europe, the quarter-finals and the first leg of the 'semis' will be played.

The culés will return to action in La Liga on Saturday the 12th in Butarque against Leganés and then travel to Dortmund to close the Champions League tie on Tuesday the 15th. Barcelona will be able to rest for four days until Saturday the 19th, when they host Celta for matchday 32 of La Liga. After that, on Tuesday the 22nd or Wednesday the 23rd, they will host Mallorca, for matchday 33 of the league.

Competition Match Venue Date
Copa del Rey - semifinals Atlético de Madrid - FC Barcelona Metropolitano Wednesday, April 2 - 21:30
La Liga - matchday 30 FC Barcelona - Betis Montjuïc Saturday, April 5 - 21:00
Champions - quarter-finals FC Barcelona - Borussia Dortmund Montjuïc Wednesday, April 9 - 21:00
La Liga - matchday 31 Leganés - FC Barcelona Butarque Saturday, April 12 - 21:00
Champions - quarter-finals Borussia Dortmund - FC Barcelona Dortmund Tuesday, April 15 - 21:00
La Liga - matchday 32 FC Barcelona - Celta de Vigo Montjuïc Saturday, April 19 - 16:15
La Liga - matchday 33 FC Barcelona - Mallorca Montjuïc To be defined

These seven matches could be joined by two more in the final stretch of April. The first of these would be the Copa del Rey final, which will be played on Saturday the 26th at La Cartuja. The culés must win at the Metropolitano against Atlético to face Real Madrid or Real Sociedad. So far, the 'merengues' have a minimal advantage (1-0) after their victory in the first leg in San Sebastián.

After that, on Tuesday the 29th or Wednesday the 30th, Barcelona could play the first leg of the Champions semi-finals, as long as Hansi Flick's team overcomes their quarter-final tie against Borussia Dortmund. The azulgrana's rival will come from the tie between Bayern Munich and Inter Milan. The Bavarians have already faced the Catalans in the league phase, in a match played in Montjuïc that ended with a resounding victory for the locals (4-1).

In that case, Barcelona would play 9 matches in April which, added to the match on Sunday against Girona, gives a total of 10 matches in 32 days across three competitions. Looking ahead to the decisive stretch of the 2024-25 season, the team is dealing with the absences of Ter Stegen, Marc Bernal, and Marc Casadó, as well as Dani Olmo who will likely be out until mid-April. Andreas Christensen, who has also spent the entire season in the infirmary, received medical clearance and has returned to training with the squad this Saturday.
