Borussia Dortmund will face FC Barcelona in the Champions League with Niklas Süle and Waldemar Anton absent from their squad
FC Barcelona will travel to Signal Iduna Park to face Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday, December 11, for Matchday 6 of the Champions League. The match is key for the Catalans, who are equal on points with the Germans in the standings (12) and will seek to distance themselves from them to ensure direct qualification to the round of 16 of the tournament.
Days before the clash between the two powers, the outlook is encouraging for the Catalans. And the fact is that those led by Nuri Sahin have suffered a couple of important casualties in recent weeks and will arrive at the match under minimum strength. The last of them has been Niklas Süle, who left the match against Borussia Mönchengladbach this Saturday due to discomfort in his ankle.
Dortmund's defence in a 'square'
The defender, who missed seven games due to a problem in the same affected area against Gladbach, was injured again and is practically certain to miss Wednesday's match, joining defender Waldemar Anton on the black-and-yellow line's illness, with these two absences being sensitive for the German team.
In addition, the alarms are on in Westphalia for Maximilian Beier, who also had to be substituted on the matchday of December 7 due to muscle discomfort. Although everything points to it being just a scare, his presence against the Blaugranas is in doubt and keeps Sahin in suspense, who will be preparing to receive the Catalans with minimal strength.
