Ansu Fati made his debut in front of the fans at Montjuïc for the first time this season. The '10' replaced Pedri and played for about half an hour against Young Boys
Ansu Fati returned to wear the Barça shirt after two weeks in which he went unnoticed. The FC Barcelona '10', who had not played since the defeat against Monaco at Louis II on the first day of the Champions League, made his debut in front of the Barça fans for the first time this season, receiving the affection of the fans who witnessed the Catalans' thrashing of Young Boys (5-0).
The forward came onto the pitch at the Estadi Olimpic Lluís Companys in the 64th minute to replace Pedri González, occupying an unusual position for him. With the match practically decided by having a three-goal advantage, the Barcelona fans welcomed him with much applause and made him feel the appreciation they feel for one of the greatest talents to come out of La Masia.
Fati, who had not played in front of his home fans since August 20, 2023, against Cádiz, played the final 26 minutes of the match, and although he touched the ball 26 times and lost possession on six occasions, he had a passing accuracy of 94% (18 out of 17). Although he did not manage to score or assist, the affection shown by the Catalans will surely reinforce his morale and push him emotionally from now on.
Hansi Flick praised Ansu at the end of the match
After Barça's victory, Hansi Flick did not hesitate to praise Ansu in front of the press, making it clear that he needs time to recover his best version. "Ansu is very good in training. He is at a very high level. We need time for him to play at his best again. He really wants to improve, he is very professional and he deserves that we have patience with him," commented the German.
