FC Barcelona's victory against Porto (2-1) not only allowed the Barça team to secure their qualification for the Champions League round of 16. Xavi's men also have the leadership of Group H in their pocket with one day left to play

Calendar of FC Barcelona

The FC Barcelona will be in the eighth of final of the UEFA Champions League for the first time from the season 2020/21 and, except a capital disaster in the last day, will do it like leader of his group. The victory in front of the Port wine (2-1) ensured mathematically the classification of the culés with 12 points and only would subtract empatar in the next date (in Belgium in front of the feeble Royal Amberes) to seal definitively the leadership of the Group H.

Even losing with the Belgian champion, the ones of Xavi Hernández can keep the leadership as long as the Port wine did not win to the Shakhtar by an advantage of more than two goals. Considering the enormous difference between the Royal Amberes and the Barça, this option is utopian, by which the Catalans already think in his possible rival in eighth like leader of group, a very important factor to avoid to one of the possible 'coconuts' of the draw that will make in Nyon, Switzerland the next 18 December.

The possible rivals of the Barça in the eighth of Champions

With five days contested in the groups And, F, G and H, the Barça knows that, by rules of the competition, will not be able to see the faces with the second classified of his group neither with some Spanish club in eighth. In the And, the only possible rival of the Barça is the Lazio, team that already ensured his classification and still can finish leader of his group if it defeats to the Athletic of Madrid in the last day.

In the G all is decided, with the Manchester City like leader and the RB Leipzig like second qualifier, by which the Germans also are a potential rival for the Barça. Much more complex is the panorama in the 'group of the death', since Dortmund, PSG, Newcastle and Milan follow alive, although the Germans already are classified and the Italians are to the edge of the abyss.

The Wednesday will define a bit more the panorama in the groups To, B, C and D. Arsenal and Real Madrid already have practically ensured the first place in the B and the C, respectively, something that already did the Bayern in the To. This group has still to three possible rivals of the culés in 'career' (Copenhagen, Galatasaray and Manchester United), whereas the B also has to PSV and Lens between the options for the Barça in eighth.

By the Group C, is very likely that the Napoli finish second, although the Knickers still can put in the fight if the group 'partenopeo' falls in his visit to the Madrid. By his part, in the D, only the Inter of Milan could see the faces with the Barça in eighth, as long as the Real Sociedad ensure the leadership of his zone.
