FC Barcelona: The 'LRL' is one step away from surpassing the 'MSN' scoring record in the Champions League

One of the great foundations of FC Barcelona this season to establish itself as one of the best teams in the world today, with a lethal offensive flow, is its forward line. Specifically, the trio that seems to be fully established in Hansi Flick's starting lineup consists of Lamine Yamal on the right wing, Raphinha on the left wing, and Robert Lewandowski as the center forward.

This goes beyond mere words, as of the 128 goals that FC Barcelona has scored to date, the three forwards mentioned have contributed a total of 73 goals, which represents 57% of the team's scoring production. This highlights the voracious capability they can have when they set their minds to it and that they possess one of the most outstanding attacking trios in the world.

Such is the 'hype' generated by the forward line formed by Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski, and Raphinha, that comparisons have begun to arise with the legendary trio known as the 'MSN'. The mythical forward line composed of Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez, and Neymar Jr.

In fact, upon careful analysis, it can be observed that in certain aspects, the 'LRL' trio is achieving numbers similar to those of the 'MSN'. According to statistical data, the current trio of FC Barcelona is getting closer to matching the impressive record left by the former star trio of the Catalan team in the 2014-15 season, the last in which Barça lifted the 'Orejona'.

In that season, the trio formed by Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez, and Neymar Jr. scored a total of 27 goals in 13 matches. Those goals were distributed as follows:

• 🇺🇾 Luis Suárez: seven goals in 10 matches
• 🇧🇷 Neymar Jr.: 10 goals in 12 matches

On the other hand, the current trio formed by Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski, and Raphinha currently has 23 goals in 10 matches, distributed as follows:

• 🇧🇷 Raphinha: 11 goals in 10 matches
• 🇵🇱 Robert Lewandowski: nine goals in 10 matches
• 🇪🇸 Lamine Yamal: three goals in nine matches

The 'LRL' will have the opportunity to increase their numbers against Dortmund, will they achieve it?

In this sense, it will be necessary to assess whether the 'LRL' manages to match or surpass these numbers, as they will have at least two more opportunities to improve their statistics,  since they will face Borussia Dortmund in the quarter-finals, both in the first leg and the second leg.

It will be interesting to see if the feared culé trio manages to impose their game against the German team and if that allows them to advance to the next round. If they succeed, they will have two more opportunities to continue improving their records in the 'semis', where they could face Inter de Milán or Bayern Múnich,  according to the schedule and the programming of the matches.
