Hansi Flick remembers Dr. Carles Miñarro: "It was a fundamental piece in our team"

Hansi Flick appeared at the press conference before the match between FC Barcelona and SL Benfica. This appearance was somewhat emotional due to the recent event that affected the Catalan team, reflected in the passing of one of the healthcare professionals working at the club, Carles Miñarro.  This tragic event was also honored during this press conference with a meaningful minute of silence.

Hansi Flick mentioned: ""The president also said something in the dressing room, he said it on Sunday and I spoke with the team yesterday. It's a great loss, he was a great person and a great doctor. He was incredible for the team and the club, he was a key figure in our team. We will miss him, but that's life sometimes".

In the same vein, the German coach acknowledged that this event could serve as a motivation for the team, which in the face of such adversity, aims to recover and achieve new successes in memory of Miñarro. ""We want to play for him, in this situation it is very important to win for him. We are prepared for it. We must move on, it's our job. It's an important situation for the club and we want to do it well", he warned.

Flick and the challenges facing FC Barcelona in the near future

In another vein, Hansi Flick commented on the importance of the week for the Blaugrana team, recalling that they will face SL Benfica (11/03) in a quest to advance to the quarter-finals in the UEFA Champions League,  and over the weekend they will play against Atlético de Madrid (16/03) in LaLiga EA Sports to solidify their position at the top of the table, with the 'colchoneros' and Real Madrid as the main pursuers. The coach reiterated: ""It's always like that. I remember the week against Bayern and Madrid and it's similar. Obviously, it's very important that we win, especially after the result in Lisbon. We are in a good mood and we have confidence in ourselves".

Furthermore, Flick expressed his confidence in the team for the upcoming important match. ""I see the team very focused, we also talked about it this morning. In this morning's talk, we showed the good and the bad from the first leg. On our side, nobody thinks the job is done because we have the second leg. We want the right attitude", he emphasized.

That said, Hansi also shared some words about SL Benfica, offering an analysis, making it clear that he doesn't expect a change in the Portuguese team's approach, regardless of facing the match as the club pressured to get a result with the series against them. ""I think they are clear about how they want to play and we also know how to do it. I don't think there will be any surprises", he revealed.

What Flick wants to highlight about the Lisbon team is that he expects the 'Eagles' to press relentlessly. ""Normally they always press high. They do it very well, they have won many away games. We have to focus on that".
