Joan Laporta spoke about Barça's qualification for the Champions League 'semis' for the first time since 2019. Find out what the Barça president said about Madrid!
Wednesday was a day of celebration for FC Barcelona. Qualifying for the UEFA Champions League semi-finals is a giant step for the club in its sporting and financial planning. Therefore, Joan Laporta took the opportunity to express his satisfaction with the team's performance. True to his style, the president also spoke about Real Madrid and the chances of a treble.
"I am happy for Barça, we have reached the semi-finals after six years. It is great news for Barcelona fans. The team is strong. Very well worked and controlled and we are also satisfied with that. This year we have improved the physical aspect," began the Barça president. In addition, he assessed the team's overall performance throughout the season.
"It's not just the physical aspect, it's a combination of factors that make everything Barça does decisive. We are playing very well and following the Barça patterns," added the president of the Catalan team. Flick's team had a rest on Wednesday, but on Thursday they will return to work to prepare for the match against Celta, in a League where the 'culés' maintain a 4-point advantage over Real Madrid.

Laporta forgets about Real Madrid and focuses on the treble
In that sense, the president avoided referring to the possibility of celebrating twice in the event of the 'merengue's' possible elimination in Europe. "Stop with the nonsense and let me enjoy the semi-final. I always watch football and even more so today because we are already qualified," argued Laporta. Similarly, the Barça president 'got wet' about the illusion generated by aspiring to a new treble a decade later.
"We are on track to fight for the objectives we have set ourselves this season, but we have not achieved them yet. We can say that everything is possible. We are working very well and we are satisfied with the dedication and talent of the players and the masterful way in which Flick leads the team. It is a pleasure to watch Barça play," Laporta pointed out.
Barcelona has 8 league games, the Copa final and the Champions League 'semis' ahead, that is, 11 games to continue in the race for their third treble in history. In between, we will have to deal with a very tough schedule from now until the end of May.
