Pau Cubarsí gave the scare of the night in FC Barcelona's victory over Red Star. The Barça centre-back was forced to leave the pitch at the Rajko Mitic in the 63rd minute after 'leaving his face' in a clash with Uros Spajic, who sent him to the locker room with a huge wound on his cheek.

The play took place in the culé area, when the Catalan defender tried to clear with his head a ball that reached Iñaki Peña's area. The Serbian forward tried to finish the ball with his right foot, but ended up hitting Cubarsí in the face, who began to bleed profusely. His teammates quickly went to him, put their hands on their heads and began to ask the bench to be substituted.

Cubarsí received 10 stitches

The player walked off to the changing rooms on his own two feet, accompanied by the Barça medical services, with a towel on his face to cover the wound caused by the studs of his boot. There, Ricard Pruna, the club's doctor, had to apply ten stitches to the wound to close it.

At the end of the match, Hansi Flick calmed the Barcelona fans by assuring them that "Cubarsí is fine, they gave him some stitches, but he's young. When you get older it's different." There is calm at the club and they hope that he can be present next Sunday in San Sebastián to face Real Sociedad.
