Hansi Flick's FC Barcelona achieved their third consecutive Champions League game scoring four or more goals, equalling another historic record

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Barcelona faced a new challenge in Belgrade: after losing 2-1 to Monaco in their first match of the season, they achieved two convincing victories in the Champions League, beating Young Boys 5-0 and Bayern Munich 4-1. The Blaugrana team had not scored 4 or more goals in three consecutive European Cup matches since the 1959/1960 season.

But with the victory against Red Star, Hansi Flick's team achieved their third consecutive Champions League match scoring four or more goals, equalling the historic record of Barcelona's Kubala, Luis Suárez and Ferran Olivella.

That Barça beat AC Milan (1-5), Wolverhampton with a 4-0 at the Camp Nou and a 2-5 at the Molineux Stadium and reached the semi-finals of the competition after scoring a total of 26 goals in eight games.

With victories against Young Boys (5-0), Bayern Munich (4-1) and Red Star Belgrade (2-5), Hansi Flick's men have now scored four or more goals in three consecutive games, equalling one of the highest-scoring starts in the club's history.

He also equalled Guardiola's record

Under Hansi Flick, Barça had scored 10 goals in just three games, equalling Pep Guardiola's record of achieving that figure in the fewest number of matches. In addition, Flick's team averaged 3.2 goals per game in this competition, the best mark for a manager with at least five games.

Barça have now won seven consecutive games in all competitions, in which they have scored four goals on five occasions. The Catalan team had not linked together 7 consecutive official games scoring 3+ goals since May 2017, and, without Messi, they had not linked together 7 consecutive official games scoring 3+ goals since March 1960 (with Helenio Herrera as coach).
