BIG NOVELTIES IN THE NEW FORMAT OF THE CHAMPIONS

The new format will have the participation of 36 teams divided in four groups of nine teams. Each team will confront to eight different clubs, without duels of gone and turn, and with four parties home and other four to domicile.
The Champions will have a new format from the season 2024-2025. It will abandon the current format to give step to a new model of competition in which they will participate 36 teams delivered in four groups of nine teams. This will be the big novelty with regard to the ancient format, where participated 32 teams, divided in eight groups of four teams, with three parties home and three to domicile.
Each team will confront to eight different clubs, with four parties home and other four went. The classification will determine in function of the results. The victory will cost 3 points, the tie 1 point and the defeat 0 points. By means of a draw, will know the rivals of each team and what split play home and which was.
Novelties in the system of classification
The 36 teams that will participate (will keep the same criteria to go in in the Champions) will not play all against all. There will be duels of gone and turn, but parties against eight distinct teams. The current phase of groups will change by a liguilla, where the eight first will happen directly to eighth of final. The others eight participants will go out of the ninth to the 24º place.
These will contest some eliminatory of play-offs, whose victorious will access to eighth. The classified teams of the 9 to the 16 will confront to the clubs of the 17 to the 24 in a preliminary round. The parties of turn will be always home of the clubs situated between the 9º and the 16º place. Of eighth from now on, will follow the traditional model of eighth, chambers, semifinals and final.
