UEFA recently published its ideal XI for matchday 6 of the Champions League. For the third consecutive matchday, no player from FC Barcelona made it into the star lineup

Calendar of FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona has achieved five consecutive victories in the UEFA Champions League, but the culé performance seems not to be enough for any player from the azulgrana team to be included in the ideal eleven of each matchday. At least that has been the case in the last three weeks of the competition, where although the culés have had outstanding individual performances, UEFA has completely ignored Hansi Flick's players.

On matchday 6, the top European competition chose Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Michael Olise (Bayern), Igor Paixao (Feyenoord), and Antoine Griezmann (Atlético de Madrid) as the best forwards, 'passing' over Lamine Yamal (MVP of Dortmund-Barça) or Ferran Torres (who scored a brace in Germany). Previously, Pedri González and Jules Koundé had also been left out of the XI despite their outstanding performances against Brest and Red Star, respectively.

UEFA's ideal XI for matchday 6 of the Champions

  • Marco Bizot (Brest);
  • Nordi Mukiele (Bayer Leverkusen),
  • Cameron Carter-Vickers (Celtic),
  • Antonio Rüdiger (Real Madrid),
  • Andrew Robertson (Liverpool);
  • Youri Tielemans (Aston Villa),
  • Angelo Stiller (Stuttgart),
  • Bukayo Saka (Arsenal);
  • Michael Olise (Bayern),
  • Igor Paixao (Feyenoord);
  • Antoine Griezmann (Atlético de Madrid).

UEFA's ideal XI from the previous matchday in the Champions

  • Emiliano Martínez (Aston Villa);
  • Jhon Lucumí (Bologna),
  • Giuliano Simeone (Atlético de Madrid),
  • Gabriel Magalhaes (Arsenal);
  • Alexis Mac Allister (Liverpool),
  • Ángel Correa (Atlético de Madrid),
  • Ángel Di María (Benfica),
  • Gabriel Martinelli (Arsenal);
  • Julián Álvarez (Atlético de Madrid),
  • Igor Paixao (Feyenoord),
  • Arthur Cabral (Benfica).

On matchday 5, UEFA also did not include any culé in their XI. Not even Koundé could make it into the ideal eleven of the week on matchday 4, despite the three assists he provided in the match against Red Star (2-5). On matchday 3, the only culé in the XI was Raphinha, thanks to the 'hat trick' he scored against Bayern Munich in the rout at Montjuïc (4-1). The Brazilian (goal and assists against Young Boys) had also been in the lineup chosen by UEFA after matchday 2, while in the first matchday of the league phase, there was also no azulgrana representation.
