Robert Lewandowski scored his third goal in the Copa del Rey and the number 33 of the season against Atlético de Madrid (4-4). The Pole was a substitute and only needed 6 minutes on the field to score.
FC Barcelona drew in the first leg of the Cup semifinals against Atlético de Madrid (4-4) in another fruitful day for Robert Lewandowski. The Pole was a substitute against the 'colchoneros', but managed to score his 33rd goal in 36 appearances in the 2024/25 season after coming on for Ferran Torres in the 68th minute. Six minutes later, practically on the first ball he touched inside the area, the '9' made it 4-2 by taking advantage of a great individual action by Lamine Yamal.
The youth player left Reinildo behind by bursting down the right and assisted 'Lewy', who only had to push it into an empty net to celebrate his third goal in the Copa del Rey. Previously, the experienced forward had scored a brace against Barbastro (0-4) in the round of 32. Against Betis (5-1) and Valencia (0-5), he was also a substitute but did not come on due to the comfortable results in favor of Barça.
Against Atlético, the story was very different. Atlético took the lead with goals from Julián Álvarez and Antoine Griezmann in the first six minutes (0-2), but Hansi Flick's team reacted to turn the score around before halftime thanks to goals from Pedri, Pau Cubarsí, and Iñigo Martínez. With Lewandowski's goal, Barça seemed to seal the match, but the 'rojiblancos' reacted again in the final stretch and salvaged a draw in stoppage time.
Lewandowski continues in 'beast' mode in the 2024/25 season
Beyond the bittersweet taste that the result left for the culés, Robert continues to improve his impressive records in the 24/25 season. The '9' is on track to complete his best season in Spain, with 33 goals in 36 matches and an average of 0.91 goals per game. In La Liga, the Pole remains the top scorer with 20 goals in 24 matches played, while in the Champions League he has 9 goals in 8 appearances. His other goal came in the Supercopa de España, against Real Madrid (2-5).
Additionally, Lewandowski has scored 10 goals in 12 appearances against Barça in 2025 across all competitions. In La Liga, he has 4 goals in 6 matches, while in the Champions League he has scored 2 in a couple of games. Against Atlético, Ferran did not have a good night, missing at least two clear opportunities. Still, the Valencian remains the top scorer for the azulgrana team in the Cup, with 4 goals.
