Calendar of FC Barcelona

The 8th of December, 1899, marked the beginning of a century-long history for Fútbol Club Barcelona, when the team played its first official match at the old Velódromo de la Bonanova. 125 years later, the club celebrates by recalling the stadiums that have witnessed its evolution.

On its 125th anniversary, Barça paid tribute with a video showcasing the journey from that first field to the current Spotify Camp Nou. The homage includes stops at the Industria Street field, Les Corts, and, of course, the Camp Nou, an iconic venue that the culés hope to partially reoccupy in 2025.

Barcelona’s first match was played against a team of English expatriates residing in the city, with each side fielding ten players due to difficulties completing the teams. On that historic day, the Barcelona players had not yet donned their now-famous blue and garnet colors and lost 0-1 with a lineup including Luis de Ossó, Juan de Urruela, Walter Wild, José Lomba, José Llobet, Adolfo López, Juan Gamper, Bartomeu Terrades, Otto Kunzle, and Eduardo Schilling.

While the works on the Spotify Camp Nou continue, the team is playing its matches at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys in Montjuïc. The date highlights the anniversary of that match and the spirit of a club that remains true to its motto: "Més que un club."
