Calendar of FC Barcelona

The FC Barcelona board is very close to officially announcing the extension of its contract with Nike for ten more years. In principle, the agreement between the parties ended in 2028 and was very close to being broken, but the negotiations have ended in a good way for the interests of the club and the brand, with juicy dividends for the culés' coffers, mainly thanks to the 'signing bonus' , the renewal premium.

In principle, Barça expects to earn 150 million euros from the renewal and around 125 net 'kilos' per season starting in 2025/26. However, there are still a couple of issues to be defined and that have delayed the signing of the contract more than necessary, among them Nike's desire to acquire a majority percentage of BLM (Barça Licensing and Merchandising), an asset that the club is willing to negotiate for a maximum of 49% of its value.

Laporta hopes to announce the new agreement with Nike in mid-October

For Joan Laporta, the agreement with Nike is key to settling accounts before the next delegates' assembly, scheduled for Saturday, October 19. Barça closed the 2023/24 financial year with losses in the order of 91 million euros and, thanks to the 150 'kilo' bonus that the American multinational will pay for the renewal, it will be possible to readjust the budget so that, in the next winter market, the club resolves the pending registrations, in addition to leaving the door open for the arrival of some other reinforcement.

The negotiation between Barça and Nike has continued for more than a year, with serious tensions between the parties. Laporta contemplated unilaterally terminating the contract and having the club manufacture its clothing for 2024/25, waiting for a better offer from Puma or other top brands. However, beyond having several lawsuits in progress, the negotiations reached a successful conclusion in the summer, although the delay in signing the new contract, in addition to postponing the launch of the three shirts of the season, complicated the market plans. of the club. Now, Barça is about to extend its link with the brand that dresses the club from 1998 to 2034. With this, the iconic 'Swoosh' will surpass, by far, three decades on the Barça shirt.
