FC Barcelona must closely follow the case of Robert Lewandowski during this national team break, since the Pole ended up with discomfort in the match between Scotland and Poland. Although a specific injury was not mentioned, it is something to keep in mind
Alarm bells are ringing at FC Barcelona. The Catalan side, which already has a fairly crowded infirmary of assets, specifically with seven players: Ronald Araújo, Andreas Christensen, Fermín López, Frenkie de Jong, Marc Bernal, and Ansu Fati, might be at risk of losing another element: Robert Lewandowski.
The Barcelona '9', who is coming off a stellar performance with Poland in Matchday One of the 2024/25 Nations League against Scotland (2-3), adding a goal and an assist, surprised when he was substituted out of the game just in the 72nd minute, in a scenario where the scoreline was still relatively tight. Additionally, 'Lewy' seemed to be in optimal conditions to continue pursuing another goal that would provide tranquility to Michał Probierz's team.
Lewandowski's significant revelation about his physical condition
However, the substitution of the Warsaw striker was precisely explained by himself, revealing a detail that might not sit well with the Barcelona team and its fans. After the match against the 'Chequered Ones,' the Pole admitted that he started to feel discomfort and hence requested the change to not risk his physical condition. "I felt discomfort and then there was some pain. I realized that if I took a risk today, tomorrow or the day after, it could be much worse. For the sake of the team and my health, the decision was made to leave the field," 'Lewy' commented.
In that sense, Robert also emphasized the importance of pacing himself physically to withstand the challenges of a campaign filled with commitments in the various competitions that he will face both with FC Barcelona and his national team. "The season will be very demanding. I could have up to 70 matches ahead, so I need to manage my strength and energy wisely," he concluded.
Now it remains to be seen if Lewandowski, who has been enjoying a frenetic scoring pace, accumulating five goals (four with Barça and one with Poland) in five matches in this 2024/25 season, manages to be part of the team in the match between Poland and Croatia in Matchday Two of the Nations League. If not, it would be a worrying omen for the Catalan team, which cannot afford to keep losing assets, especially not a player as important as the Barça '9' in the club's structure and offensive aspirations.
