Barça have extended the contract of Alex Valle, whose contract was due to expire in 2025, before loaning him to Celtic Glasgow. In this way, the club maintains control over his future and avoids losing him at zero cost next summer

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Tuesday, August 27 was a day of good news at the FC Barcelona offices. Álex Valle, a left-back from La Masia, has extended his contract with the Catalan club for another year. The defender's contract with the Blaugrana club expired in 2025, so both parties reached an agreement to extend it for another season, until 2026. In this way, the Catalan board avoids losing him at zero cost next summer and will keep him on their radar as he is a footballer with a more than interesting projection.

In this way, the 20-year-old player completed his last formality before leaving for Scotland, where he will join Celtic Glasgow on loan. Last season he was on loan at Levante and his good performance earned him the interest of several clubs in LaLiga and the rest of Europe, so the Blaugrana leadership had to act quickly to 'protect' him and avoid his departure as a free agent.

With the renewal of his contract, his salary also increased, which will be covered by his new team, while his termination clause, which was three million euros, suffered a slightly smaller increase than the 30 million euros initially sought by the Barcelona club.

Barça will continue to have control of Valle

At Celtic, Valle will seek to continue growing as a player and gain experience in the elite to, ultimately, return to Barcelona or sign for another big club on the continent. In Scotland he will work with the experienced coach, Brendan Rodgers, who widely believes in his possibilities and hopes to bring out the best version of him. The Spaniard is an extremely versatile player, being able to play both on the left and right side, so the British coach hopes to 'exploit' these qualities to turn him into a 'threat' on the wings.

Let's remember that the player was one of the most used by Hansi Flick in the preseason and had a great performance on the tour of the United States. However, in the first two games of LaLiga he was not taken into account by the German coach, so this separation will benefit both parties, although Can Barça will not lose track of him for the rest of the season and do not rule out his return to the club in the future.
