Andreas Christensen underwent cell regenerative therapy. His return would be delayed until the end of January
Andreas Christensen and FC Barcelona received a hard blow this Tuesday, November 19. After several months with no news about his recovery, the Dane was forced to undergo surgery, a situation that further extends his time out. The player is expected to be in the dry dock for two more months, so his return is expected at the end of January 2025.
This is reported by 'Catalunya Ràdio', where they assured that the intervention that the center-back underwent consists of a cellular regenerative therapy that has been performed on the tendons of both feet.
Until today, the footballer had been undergoing conservative treatment to heal his tendinopathy in the left Achilles, but after a consultation with a doctor in Sweden, Christensen made the decision, in coordination with the club's medical services, to undergo a simple and small intervention to reduce the pain.
Bad news for Hansi Flick
In the sporting field, the Dane's operation represents bad news for Hansi Flick, who will have to wait until the end of January at the earliest to have all the defence at his disposal.
Eric García's return to the Blaugrana is imminent and could take place at Balaídos next Saturday, while Ronald Araújo is facing the final stretch of his recovery process and could return in mid-December. Meanwhile, Pau Cubarsí and Iñigo Martínez are performing at a spectacular level and are increasingly consolidated in the starting eleven, which is why Christensen is becoming more and more ostracised.
