FC Barcelona seeks to reduce the salary impact of Ansu Fati

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Ansu Fati has become a problem for FC Barcelona. The young forward, 22 years old, is currently not a player who provides solutions to Hansi Flick to add depth to the offensive front. In fact, he has reached the point of being regularly left out of the squad, with few chances to see minutes, something that hasn't happened since January 4 in the victory of the azulgrana team against UD Barbastro (0-4) in the Copa del Rey.

Beyond this great ostracism that Ansu Fati is subjected to, it is worth noting that, during the winter transfer market, he was apparently offered options to leave FC Barcelona and have continuity in his game with another team, alternatives that he rejected in the hope of regaining the trust of Hansi Flick and securing a place in the azulgrana sports planning, the player from Bissau represents a genuine problem for the Catalan team. Why? For a specific reason: the impact of his salary on the salary scale of the Barcelona club.

And how could it not be? It has been revealed that the '10' of Barça earns around 13.9 million gross per season. Such earnings are incomprehensible given the limited participation of the forward in the sports project, which clearly impacts the club's finances and has led FC Barcelona to consider different mechanisms to lighten this situation, in light of Ansu's refusal to leave the culé team.

Barcelona Does Not Rule Out Applying the 'Umtiti Formula' with Ansu Fati

In this regard, according to reports from 'SPORT', the team from the City of Condal is considering applying the 'Umtiti Formula' with Ansu Fati. This clever move would consist of extending him a renewal offer, despite the player's limited role in the team, with the aim of spreading his salary and reducing its impact on the club's accounts.

In the case of Ansu Fati, who has a contract with FC Barcelona until 2027, with a gross salary of 12 million euros in the 2025-26 season and 14 million euros in 2026-27, for a total of 26 million euros gross over the next two years, Barça could opt to renew him for three more seasons (until 2030). This would allow those 26 'kilos' to be distributed over the next five years and reduce the impact on the salary mass.

As stated by the aforementioned source, with this strategy, Ansu Fati would receive 5.2 million euros gross per season, a considerably lower amount than he currently receives, placing him in the middle of the salary table. This could also be key to facilitating his departure in the future, given that one of the main obstacles teams face when considering the former Brighton player is his salary.

In light of this, the question arises: will Ansu Fati choose to leave Barça in the upcoming summer market? While he has always wished to succeed as a culé, the limited opportunities could lead him to consider a change of scenery.
