Barça finished with zero shots on goal in the defeat against Real Sociedad. The Catalans had not managed something similar since September 2014, against Malaga
FC Barcelona's defeat against Real Sociedad last Sunday was as controversial as it was surprising. And not only because of the result, but also because of the offensive blockage of a Barça team that, so far this season, has shown that it has the most 'devastating' attack on the continent. Without Lamine Yamal, the Catalans showed an inexplicable lack of precision in the opponent's half, which led to the end of an impressive streak for the Catalan team.
And at the Reale Arena, the team led by Hansi Flick finished the match with zero shots on target. A situation that the Blaugranas had not experienced for more than ten years, when in September 2014 the team led, at that time, by Luis Enrique finished with the same statistic in the 0-0 draw against Málaga at La Rosaleda.
First match without scoring this season for Barça
Since that match, the Catalans had always shot at least once on target. A fact that is even more curious considering that, in the 16 matches played until November 10, Barça had scored in all their duels this season, even in the defeats against Monaco (2-1) and Osasuna (4-2).
However, against the 'txuri-urdin', despite eleven shots being counted, none came close to Remiro's goal. And on the only occasion that they did, with a shot by Robert Lewandowski into the back of the net, the VAR ruled out the play for an unusual and non-existent offside.
