Barça, without Ansu Fati and Christensen, seeks to overcome an important challenge this Sunday.

Calendar of FC Barcelona

The FC Barcelona will face Real Sociedad this Sunday without Ansu Fati and Andreas Christensen, both ruled out. Ansu has been forced to miss the session due to a feverish process, according to club sources. The young forward did not participate in the team's training at the Tito Vilanova Field of the Joan Gamper Sports City, confirming his highly probable absence for the match.

Another setback for the player who, facing a Barça attack led by the solid trio composed of Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Lamine, has few opportunities and many difficulties to enter the latest call-ups.

Christensen, a relapse that worries Barça

But undoubtedly, the most unexpected news has featured Andreas Christensen, who had recently recovered from a tendinopathy in the Achilles tendon. The center-back has suffered a setback from his injury in the soleus of his right leg. The Danish player spent almost the entire first half of the season recovering and last January was able to be included in three call-ups, but did not debut.

"We are all keeping an eye on Andreas, who was a viable option for tomorrow, but unfortunately he has injured himself and now we must wait to know the extent of this new injury"

Hansi Flick confirmed in the press conference that Christensen injured himself during training and will definitely be out for the match against Real Sociedad. Despite having recently received medical clearance and participating in only two training sessions, Christensen has encountered problems in the same area again, complicating his recovery for the final stretch of the season. So far, Christensen has only managed to play 26 minutes throughout the season.

Ansu Fati and Christensen, absent at a key moment

The absences of the two players add to the already known injuries of Marc-André Ter Stegen and Marc Bernal, who continue to recover from long-term injuries. The absence of the defender and the forward forces Flick to make tactical adjustments at a very demanding moment of the season.

The team will have to demonstrate its depth and versatility against Real Sociedad, just three days before the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16. The coming days will be crucial to understand the extent and duration of their absences.
