The FC Barcelona knows that it is getting closer and closer to recovering one of its most important assets when it comes to strengthening the defense. The Culé team is starting to see how Ronald Araújo, who is recovering from a long-standing physical setback suffered on July 7th (injury to the right hamstring tendon), although he has not yet participated in his first full training session with the group, is already doing exercises on the field with increasing ease.

At this point, Ronald Araújo seems ready to progress in his recovery process. At least that's what journalist Santiago Ovalle of 'Cadena Ser' suggests, asserting that the Uruguayan '4' is "physically like a motorbike", so it's not ruled out that this week he will begin to intensify his workload, to assess sensations and determine if it is feasible to shorten the timelines for his return.

However, it is important to remember two aspects. FC Barcelona, which is going through a great sporting moment, will not rush Ronald Araújo's return. Although his comeback would be a great boost for the Blaugrana squad, providing depth in one of the key positions with one of the best defenders in the world, it is clear that the defensive 'wall' formed by Pau Cubarsí and Iñigo Martínez is functioning solidly. Therefore, it is not advisable to rush Rivera's return and it is preferable to wait for him to fully recover.

FC Barcelona has not changed the expected return date for Ronald Araújo

In this regard, it has been mentioned several times that Ronald Araújo is expected to return in November, possibly after the FIFA date of that month. It is unlikely that he will be called up for the match against Celta de Vigo (11/23) in LaLiga EA Sports or for the clash against Stade Brestois (11/26) in the UEFA Champions League. However, his return would definitely elevate the quality of Barcelona's squad.

However, it could also spark a debate on whether Ronald Araújo would have a place in Hansi Flick's starting eleven, at least not immediately. As mentioned earlier, the German coach seems to have a set lineup that has worked well, so introducing such an important change could be a quite complex challenge. Nevertheless, it remains to be seen if Heidelberg's manager can find a way to effectively utilize all his assets.
