Barça are starting to think about the summer of 2025. Two of the big culés targets from the last transfer market could leave their clubs as free agents, so the Blaugrana squad is already thinking about signing them at zero cost

The FC Barcelona offices are constantly working on possible improvements for the squad with a view to the future. After a rather discreet 2024 summer market due to problems with financial fair play, which allowed them to bring in 'only' Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, the Barça board hopes to definitively clean up their accounts in the coming months in order to undertake high-calibre signings for the 2025-2026 season. If they achieve this goal, the Catalans would have clear their first two objectives for next year's summer window.

Deco has in mind to revolutionise the market and everything seems to indicate that his main efforts will be focused on defence and midfield. Both areas continue to be weakened by 'injuries' and the lack of some renowned footballers, a situation to which the possible farewell of some players in 2025 would be added. Iñigo Martínez, for example, ends his contract next summer, and the agreements of players such as Frenkie de Jong, Eric García, Ronald Araújo and Andreas Christensen expire in 2026 and, as of today, there is no significant progress in their renewals, so the Blaugranas begin to 'cover their backs'.

Kimmich's dream remains alive

It is public knowledge that the Catalan team wants two 'cracks' from the German national team. The first of them, Joshua Kimmich, who has been one of the great favorites of the sports management for several years and whose name resonated in the corridors of the Spotify Camp Nou this summer, since his relationship with Bayern Munich entered a 'swampy terrain'. However, both parties rectified the situation and the now captain of 'Die Mannschaft' decided to stay, at least, another season in Bavaria, but everything could change in the next 12 months.

The Munich board is confident that they will be able to convince him to renew his contract, which ends in June 2025, but everything will depend on the final word from Kimmich, who at 29 years old would be seriously considering trying a new challenge in a different horizon. His operation would not be easy due to his high demands, to which must be added the interest of other clubs with greater financial muscle such as Paris Saint-Germain, but Barça has the 'trump card' of Flick. The midfielder knows the Barça coach very well since he was under his orders at Bayern and the German team, and the good relationship between the two could be a determining factor when it comes to tipping the balance in favor of the Catalans.

Jonathan Tah, new alternative at zero cost

For his part, the option of Jonathan Tah for the center of the defense would be 'at hand' for the culés. "I will not renew my contract for professional reasons," admitted the player himself in statements to the newspaper 'Süddeutsche Zeitung', which is why his signing would be more than affordable for the Barça entity if they definitively solve their financial setbacks since they would only have to pay the defender's salary and the signing bonus.

In that sense, the Barcelona team wants to secure his services as a free agent and have already made this interest known to his representative. However, the 'bid' for the player will be difficult, with Bayern Munich as the club's main competitor in the race, since Tah was also on their agenda last summer and they would try to sign him again in 2025. In favor of the Catalans plays the 'Pini Zahavi factor', the center-back's agent and who maintains a great relationship with the Blaugrana board, especially with Deco and Joan Laporta. With this in mind, the summer transfer market for next year is beginning to take shape.
