FC Barcelona officially announced on Thursday the sale of the exploitation rights for 475 VIP boxes at the new Spotify Camp Nou. The club will use the same model as the NBA and NFL to generate more revenue

FC Barcelona will implement the business model 'Personal Seat License (PSL)' to the exploitation of the new VIP boxes and the hospitality services of the revamped Spotify Camp Nou starting next season. Through a statement, the club revealed more details about the agreement reached with two investors from the Middle East, who acquired 475 boxes for a maximum period of 30 years.

According to Barça, the PSL model, which has been implemented for years by American leagues such as the NBA and NFL, "represents the creation of a new intangible asset", which can be marketed or used by the investors ensuring the club receives the corresponding money, on one hand, "for the license to use the seat for the entire duration of the contract at its inception", as well as "the price of the VIP seat per season". In this way, Barça avoids committing long-term income.

Barça maintains the confidentiality of its new partners and the amount of the operation

Similarly, as was the case with the financing of Espai Barça, the club kept confidentiality clauses active to not reveal the names of its new partners, clauses "intended to preserve their competitive advantage". Barcelona also did not detail the amounts paid by the investor groups, although all figures and related documentation are in the hands of LaLiga.

In this regard, Barça insists it sent all documentation before midnight on December 31, 2024, as required by the league to account for the income that ultimately resolved the registrations of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, along with the necessary 'Fair Play' to return to the 1:1 rule in the winter market. Finally, the azulgrana statement details that the profits from this 'lever' will be used to amortize the debt accumulated from the remodeling of the stadium "before the first payment is due", scheduled for the beginning of the 2025-26 season.
