FC Barcelona will hold an extraordinary assembly of delegates this Saturday at 11 a.m. to approve the figures of the new contract with Nike, which the club finalized on November 9
FC Barcelona members must approve the figures corresponding to the new contract that the club officially signed with Nike on November 9. According to point 20.8 of the Barça Statutes, the figures of this and any contract related to the exploitation of the club's rights for a period exceeding 5 years must be submitted for ratification by the delegates.
In this regard, Joan Laporta called for an extraordinary assembly, in a telematic format, for this Saturday at 11 in the morning, a requirement that is also essential for LaLiga to account for the income derived from the renewal with the American sportswear brand. In principle, Barça will receive a renewal bonus of 150 million euros for a contract that will extend over the next 14 seasons, until June 2038.
In total, revenues of around 1.7 billion euros are expected, at a rate of 45 million euros in the first four years (2024-2028) and 60 million euros net starting in the summer of 2028, not counting other benefits derived from sporting achievements and additional royalties. Additionally, the club regained control of all Retail and e-commerce operations globally, which represent an annual injection of about 300 million euros.
The contract with Nike will not resolve the 'Olmo case'
However, immediately, LaLiga's 'ok' to the contract with Nike would not be enough for the club to finally return to the 1/1 rule to be able to sign players. In fact, it would not even be sufficient to resolve the registration of Dani Olmo. According to the league, the club needs to earn around 60 million euros to update the registration of the player from Terrassa and Pau Víctor, but the renewal with Nike would only account for about 45 million euros in the culé coffers at this time.
The reason has to do with the income that the club still owes from the sale of Barça Studios. It has only received 55 of the 200 million euros budgeted for this 'lever', due to the non-payments from Libero. Aramark committed to taking on that debt, but the management did not specify the deadlines in which the American company, also a provider of hospitality and catering services for Barça, would pay this amount.
