FC Barcelona has provided details about some of the updates being implemented in the works at Spotify Camp Nou, which we will explain in FCBN
The FC Barcelona is scheduled to hold a session on Tuesday, February 11 (5:00 PM) that will be streamed via 'streaming' on Barça One to discuss, among other things, the details about the progress of the works at the Spotify Camp Nou. This meeting will feature the participation of the institutional vice president, Elena Fort, and the operations manager of Espai Barça, Joan Sentelles.
Gradually, more details have been revealed about the return to the Spotify Camp Nou, which, according to information from FC Barcelona, aims to "play official competitive matches again this season, with a partial capacity of more than 60,000 spectators". This return is expected to take place in May.
🏟️ The installation works for the new roof of the Spotify Camp Nou will not begin before the summer of 2026
Recently, it has been announced that there will be changes in the planning of Espai Barça. It has been revealed that, although the club initially planned to hire an Italian subcontractor to install the roof of the stadium in June, it has ultimately been decided to postpone this phase of the works by a year.
This means that the work to install the roof will not begin until the summer of 2026. This decision is due to the fact that the structure of the third tier must be more advanced to place the 1,400 tons of cable for its structure. It will require between three and four months of full-time work, which will interrupt the adaptation works of the culé stronghold.
Once the installation of the roof cabling is completed in the summer of 2026, the fifth phase will begin. This consists of the placement of the roof membrane, which will extend throughout the 2026-27 season.
It should be noted that, due to the change in planning regarding the installation of the roof, the location of the lighting that was originally going to be placed on the roof has also been modified. It was mentioned that a provisional structure will be created between the second and third tiers with the necessary lights for the matches, as well as a provisional access control system and refreshment points.
🌿The installation of the grass at the culé stronghold
It has also been mentioned that currently 3,000 workers from Limak, the Turkish construction company in charge of building the Spotify Camp Nou, have already cleared the entire playing field. In 10 weeks, that is, in April, the field will already have the grass and irrigation systems installed.
Regarding the provisional accesses for the return this season, the workers from Limak will also soon begin to asphalt and level the future entrances to the legendary blue and burgundy home to reopen them during this same period.
📜The club still needs to obtain some permits for its reopening in May
It should be noted that the club is currently managing the permits necessary to expedite the execution of the works (working six days a week for 24 hours, always respecting labor regulations and minimizing disturbances to neighbors), as well as the sports permits from LaLiga, the RFEF, UEFA and the licenses from the Fire Department and the City Council of Barcelona, which must assess whether the facilities are safe for 64,000 culers to attend with a third tier under construction.
Meanwhile, following the cancellation of the Rolling Stones' European tour, the club is waiting for the City Council and BSM to confirm their request to play at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys until the end of the current season in case the Catalan stronghold is not ready in May.
