Hansi Flick continues to revolutionise FC Barcelona. The German coach is clear about all the steps he must take to succeed with the culé team and, so far, they have worked. The Blaugrana team has been the only one to have managed to win in the first four games of the 2024/25 LaLiga season, so they want to add another three points against Girona.
The match of matchday 5 is scheduled for this Sunday, August 15 at 4:15 p.m. (Spanish time) and will take place in Montivili. Winning this match will not only be key to extending Flick's winning streak, but because last season they failed to beat Míchel's team in the local competition. So the German coach has a plan to ensure that his players are rested and ready for the match.
Flick's plan against Girona
Although Girona and Barcelona are separated by only 100 kilometres, Flick has decided that his players will sleep in Girona on Saturday night. This is a significant change compared to previous visits to rivals, because the players used to travel directly from the Ciutat Esportiva to Montilivi by coach, as the journey takes just over an hour.
From now on, this will not be the case. On Saturday 14th, the group will train at five in the afternoon at the Ciutat Esportiva, then, at around seven in the evening, Flick will speak to the media and at the end, the players called up and the coaching staff will travel to Girona. The culé delegation will rest in a hotel and thus will not be forced to rush to the stadium. Thus the entire squad will be rested and will be able to carry out their pre-match activities without the stress of arriving on time. We will see if this small but important change gives a good result different from the one we saw last season against Míchel's team.
