Interview with RAC1
Elena Fort defends Barça's management of registrations and points the finger at LaLiga
The institutional vice president of the Blaugrana team has totally denied that the club is acting with improvisation and has defended the way the Board of Directors acts, despite the fact that "they have not made it easy for them"
The case of the registrations of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor in LaLiga seems to be moving towards its end with a positive resolution for FC Barcelona. The High Council of Sports would be determined to give the final 'yes' to the case, according to the latest information, although the club still does not know anything. This was made clear by Elena Fort, institutional vice president of the blue and red team, in an interview with RAC1.
In said conversation, the board has not had any doubt that the blaugrana's performance has been correct in each of the steps and that it has not gone to the limit as has been said. Likewise, it has not hesitated when pointing out that the problem does not come from Barça, but that it has been the administration of the competition that has been to blame for the situation: "Those who have determined the times and the requirements have been them."
"There has been neither haste nor negligence"
Fort has defended the Board of Directors from all "the noise that there is on social networks." She has assured that, from the highest levels of the club, they are "convinced" that they are right in the case of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor despite not having received a notification yet from the CSD. She knows that neither will be available to play this Wednesday against Athletic, but they could be available in a hypothetical final "depending on the time at which the notification is given." However, she has stressed that, from the club, they want them on the field as soon as possible, since all the necessary requests have been fulfilled on time, although she assures that they have not made it easy for them and that "if today the players are not registered it is not because of Barça, but quite the opposite."
In order to get the necessary money for the registrations of the two footballers, they have worked in parallel since October on both the Nike contract and the commercialization of 5% of the VIP boxes for 30 years. Thus, she has been very clear: "There has been no haste or negligence, we have closed a great operation." She also stressed the good work of the culés leaders: "It is not true that we have gone to the limit, a very quick judgment has been made without knowing what has happened and we have complied with all the requests of the economic bodies. There is no improvisation, it is a great contract that has been in the works for months although it is not said every day what is done."
Along the same lines, the institutional spokesperson and vice president addressed the issue of Raphinha's statements. She stated that "the club is not giving a bad image" with this situation, something that clashes head-on with what the Brazilian said. She explained that "Barça is a very strong club that has done a magnificent job" and that, when talking about the lack of professionalism, "it is a lack of respect." Similarly, she wanted to remember the state in which the institution was in 2021 and that, by launching the reform of the Spotify Camp Nou or the recovery of the 1-1 rule for Fair Play, they have "saved the club."
No return date to the Spotify Camp Nou
Unlike other cases, in which Elena Fort announced dates for the return to the culé temple, this time she has not rushed: "As of today we do not have a return date, although it will be this season. We will return when we can." She also explained the failure to meet the return deadlines that she herself had said: "The first forecasts were tight and have been deviated by problems with labor and supplies, as well as unforeseen damage to the second tier. All of this has added up and has made the date we had initially set fail."
When the subject of the delayed return to the Spotify Camp Nou came to the fore, the board was also asked about the clause in the contract that penalizes these situations. Although he made it clear that the matter will be investigated, he did not want to comment on whether or not there will be a punishment for the construction company: "All contracts always have penalties to ensure compliance. Once the works are finished, the situations will be analysed to check if any penalty is applied, we will see all the causes if they are reasonable for the construction company or not."
Vinicius, sanctioned with 2 matches
The interview ended with Elena Fort's opinion on the two-match sanction for Vinicius Junior after being sent off for pushing Valencia goalkeeper Dimitievski in the face. Without mincing words, she defended the lack of proportionality with respect to other punishments: "This shows what Barça faces every time it has to act. Perhaps we should change the regulations and reformulate how sanctions are imposed."
