Hansi Flick has confirmed the 23-man squad for the SL Benfica vs FC Barcelona UEFA Champions League 2024-25 round of 16 first leg match
The FC Barcelona faces a tough challenge at the beginning of the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League 2024-25. Under Hansi Flick's leadership, they will have to travel to the Estádio da Luz to face SL Benfica, a team they already encountered this season and proved to be a solid opponent, capable of exposing the weaknesses of the Barcelona team.
It's worth noting that if it weren't for a spectacular comeback by the Barcelona side, the 'Eagles' could have secured a positive result in Portugal, in what was an exciting match that ended 4-5, being a real goal fest. A goal-fest where Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha from FC Barcelona shined with a brace each, and Vangelis Pavlidis on Benfica's side, who completed a hat-trick.
Fortunately, the German coach will be able to count on almost all his players for the clash against the Portuguese team. However, it's important to mention that a list of 24 players has been announced, forcing FC Barcelona to exclude one of them before the start of the match, as per regulations, only 23 players can be available. It remains to be seen who Hansi Flick decides to leave out.
