The FC Barcelona board approves a key request from Hansi Flick to strengthen the team
After just over half a season has passed, there seems to be no doubt that Hansi Flick has come to FC Barcelona to stay. The 60-year-old German coach took the reins of the Blaugrana team in July after the end of Xavi Hernández's cycle, who was dismissed from the Barcelona team after a 2023-24 season in which the club ended without a trophy in their cabinet. At the same time, many inconsistencies in his sports project became evident, enough to hasten his departure. It was clear that the team needed a change of direction.
Hansi Flick has undoubtedly managed to give that radical change to Barcelona. In his first season as coach of the Catalan team, he has already added his first trophy: the Supercopa de España 2025. Furthermore, the Catalan club remains in the fight on all fronts: it is leading LaLiga EA Sports with 66 points, has already reached the final of the Copa del Rey, where it will face Real Madrid on April 26, and is qualified for the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, where it will meet Borussia Dortmund in Montjuïc on April 9 and at Signal Iduna Park on the 15th.
Beyond the results, Barça is leaving extraordinary sensations on the field. It shows as an offensively overwhelming team, with a great arsenal of resources to break down their rivals, but also solid in defense, with order, intensity, and mental strength. The team knows how to suffer when necessary and remains firm in the face of adversity. Moreover, Hansi Flick's project is supported by a key foundation: the talent from La Masía, complemented by young reinforcements that suggest this cycle is just beginning and could successfully extend over time if managed properly.
Hansi Flick's new request to provide greater comfort to first team players
In this context, the German coach seems to have gained enough support to make certain requests aimed at further enhancing the team. One of his recent requests, far from being related to signings, points to a key structural improvement for the growth of the sports project.
According to reports from 'Barça Reservat' on Catalunya Ràdio, a project has been greenlit to provide greater comfort to first team players, both before and after matches. This involves the creation of a residence with rooms for the players, which would function as a concentration center before matches and a resting space after commitments.
The cited source revealed that this idea is not new. Since his arrival and after getting to know the facilities of the Ciutat Esportiva, Hansi Flick asked Deco about the feasibility of implementing this residence, and the Portuguese sporting director has reportedly agreed from the very beginning.
The project is approved, but...
Now, this initiative, which was already planned in the design of the culé sports city, has been approved by the board of directors. It only remains to assign the project to the architects responsible for its construction. Although there is still no specific start date, the initiative is in its primary phase, but there are other more advanced ideas.
