Iñigo Martínez returns to training and prepares for the match against CA Osasuna

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Great news for FC Barcelona. The blaugrana team, after five days of break, held a training session on Monday at the facilities of the Joan Gamper Sports City, specifically at the Camp Tito Vilanova, with the aim of starting to prepare for the commitment next Thursday against CA Osasuna. This training day featured a luxury addition for the culé squad.

In the training session led by coach Hansi Flick, in addition to the return of some internationals like Fermín López, Gerard Martín, and Pablo Torre, who were released from the under-21 national team of Santi Denia to join the blaugrana team; and the presence of Lamine Yamal, Pedri González, Dani Olmo, and Ferran Torres, who underwent a recovery session; the return of one particular name stood out: Iñigo Martínez.

Iñigo Martínez trained normally with the group

It should be noted that the Basque defender was unable to join the Spanish national team for this FIFA date in March due to an internal meniscus injury in his right knee, the recovery time for which was not initially determined. Although it was speculated that it could be two to three weeks, it seems it will be shorter, as only a week has passed since his injury was announced on March 17.

Although his medical discharge has not been officially announced, the fact that he participated in this training session is a good sign regarding his recovery. This would be a relief for Hansi Flick and FC Barcelona, as the availability of Pau Cubarsí for the match against CA Osasuna next Thursday is unclear, which left the culé defense in a compromised position due to the shortage of available players.

Other first-team players who participated in the training session of FC Barcelona were:

  • Iñaki Peña
  • Wojciech Szczęsny
  • Eric García
  • Alejandro Balde
  • Gavi
  • Ansu Fati
  • Pau Víctor

There was also the presence of elements from Barça Atlètic:

Additionally, according to the club's report, in this first training session of the week, while waiting for the other internationals to gradually join after their commitments with the national teams, two members of Barça Atlètic also took part in the workday: Alexis Olmedo, the defender, and Rubén López, the midfielder.
