Barça wants to continue having Hansi Flick's services, at least until 2027

Calendar of FC Barcelona

The relationship between Hansi Flick and FC Barcelona seems destined to be long-lasting. How could it not be? The German coach took charge of the azulgrana team at the beginning of July last year and, in just eight months, he has completely transformed the team.

Building on the work of Xavi Hernández, Hansi Flick has given a new direction to the culé sports project. He has turned it into a devastating and attractive team in the offensive aspect, with a remarkable ability to press and defend.

Not only that, but the Catalan team has already secured its first title of the 2024-25 season, the 2025 Supercopa de España. At the same time, they are very well positioned in LaLiga EA Sports (in first place with 60 points), qualified for the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, where they will face Borussia Dortmund, as well as competing in the semifinals of the Copa del Rey against Atlético de Madrid.

Given this series of achievements and considering that FC Barcelona came from a blank year, it is not surprising that the club is considering the renewal of the contract of the coach responsible for this tactical revolution and results. A manager who has also managed to earn the appreciation of both the institution and the culé fans.

Barcelona Keeps an Eye on Hansi Flick's Renewal

According to reports from 'SPORT', FC Barcelona is already working on extending Hansi Flick's contract, which currently expires on June 30, 2026, with the intention of ensuring the coach's continuity at the club until 2027. This contract extension would be accompanied by a salary increase, as recognition for the sporting merits he has achieved with the team.

It should be noted that all parties are convinced that they will reach a satisfactory agreement when they sit down to negotiate. However, for now, all parties prefer to focus on the current season and on what Barcelona is achieving on the pitch. Therefore, it is not surprising that the topic has been postponed to be discussed after the conclusion of this campaign (Deco wants to extend it in the summer to avoid any speculation about his future), with a more complete evaluation and without rush.

This possible contract extension would be a necessary recognition for Hansi Flick, who, upon arriving at the azulgrana team, accepted less attractive economic conditions and took on the challenge of leading a team with financial limitations. Despite this, the German coach has worked hard to build a winning sports project, which, while requiring some adjustments, undoubtedly promises a very interesting future.
