Pau Cubarsí remains doubtful for the match against CA Osasuna
The FC Barcelona held its second training session on Tuesday in preparation for the upcoming match against CA Osasuna, scheduled for Thursday, March 27, in matchday 27 of LaLiga EA Sports (21:00 h). Initially set for March 8, the match was postponed due to the sad passing of the team's doctor, Carles Miñarro.
In this training session, led by Hansi Flick, the presence of Pedri González, Lamine Yamal, Dani Olmo, Ferran Torres, and Jules Koundé stood out, as they joined the players who recently returned from their international commitments, such as Fermín López, Gerard Martín, and Pablo Torre. These players effectively reintegrated into the dynamics of the team during this training session.
Pau Cubarsí trained separately from the group
However, a significant uncertainty in this training was the situation of the 18-year-old defender, Pau Cubarsí. It should be noted that the '2' suffered a physical setback (strain in the anterior tibioperoneal ligament of the right ankle) during the match between Spain and the Netherlands (2-2) at the beginning of the international break in March. In this training session, 'Cuba' participated separately from the group.
Given this, his participation in the upcoming match against Osasuna seems unlikely due to the limited time available and the necessary caution for his recovery.
Barcelona will go with a limited defense for the match against the 'rojillos'
On the other hand, good news for Hansi Flick was the recovery of Iñigo Martínez, who rejoined the group after overcoming an internal meniscus injury in his right knee and is likely to be included in the squad for the match against the 'rojillos'. Additionally, the presence for the second consecutive day of the young reserve defender Alexis Olmedo is significant given the injuries to Andreas Christensen and possibly Pau Cubarsí, along with the doubts surrounding Ronald Araujo and his physical condition after seeing action soon with Uruguay.
With only two defenders available in the team, Iñigo Martínez and Eric García, there is a need to incorporate another defender to add depth to the defensive line.
