Dani Olmo is getting closer to returning to action with FC Barcelona. Even his participation in the duel against Sevilla does not seem to be ruled out
FC Barcelona, fortunately and despite some scares like the recent one with Lamine Yamal, is receiving good news about the recovery of its injured players. This week, the team has welcomed Fermín López back to training, who had been sidelined for at least three weeks (with an injury to the rectus femoris muscle in his right leg) and, pending official confirmation, should be cleared to play soon.
Now, one of the eagerly awaited returns at Barcelona is that of midfielder Dani Olmo. It's worth remembering that the Terrassa native suffered a hamstring injury in his right thigh on September 15 in the match against Girona (1-4). An estimated recovery time of around four to five weeks was given, a period that is about to be completed, and apparently, the player is very close to a full recovery.
Will Dani Olmo make it for the match against Sevilla?
According to journalist Javier Miguel, although Dani Olmo has not yet had his first full training session with the team since his injury and is currently doing solo training sessions with specific activities, it is anticipated that he will rejoin the group on Thursday, October 17. Additionally, the same source asserts that he is likely to be considered for the squad for the match against Sevilla on Sunday, October 20 (matchday 10 of LaLiga EA Sports) at Montjuïc.
This aligns with the plan based on the possibility that Dani Olmo could be available for the clash against Sevilla. Miguel also mentions that it is expected that the player from Terrassa will play around 20 minutes against Sevilla with the aim of gradually regaining match fitness and returning to competition step by step.
This match against Sevilla will also serve as an evaluation to assess the physical condition of the former Leipzig player ahead of the significant challenges facing Barcelona, such as the match against Bayern Munich (23/10) in the third matchday of the UEFA Champions League next Wednesday, followed by the match in matchday 11 of LaLiga Sports against Real Madrid (28/10) at the Santiago Bernabéu. These matches promise to be highly competitive, and Barça has a lot at stake in them.
