Fermín López scored for the second consecutive time against Valencia this season. The midfielder has a total of 4 goals this season and is claiming a spot in Barça's midfield.
In a tribute to the spectacular first half completed against Valencia in LaLiga, FC Barcelona was once again a true juggernaut in the first 45 minutes of the match against the che team at Mestalla. The Catalan team secured their qualification for the semifinals of the Copa del Rey within the first half hour of the match, with a staggering 0-4 that left the locals without a response.
Ferran Torres tipped the balance in favor of the culés with a brace before the 20th minute, but it was Fermín López who put some distance and practically sealed the match in favor of Flick's side. In the 22nd minute, the Andalusian took advantage of a dream assist from Pedri González and, after dribbling past the goalkeeper, scored the third goal of the night into an empty net.
Fermín demands a place in the midfield
With his goal against Valencia, Fermín now has four goals this season. The midfielder found the net in matches against Red Star (2-5) and against the che team itself in LaLiga (7-1), a match in which he celebrated his first, and so far only, brace of the season.
At the end of the match, the player spoke to the press in the mixed zone and commented on his great form, stating that "the coach is giving me opportunities and I am happy. We knew the importance of the match and now we must continue, as there are beautiful things ahead. I like to help with goals".
In this way, López begins to claim his place in a Barça midfield where starting positions are becoming increasingly competitive. Pedri and Casadó are practically indispensable for Flick, and, in theory, Gavi, Frenkie de Jong, and Dani Olmo are fighting for the last available spot in the position. However, Fermín's recent performances have seriously put him in the conversation.
