If there is a player at FC Barcelona who perfectly understands his role within the squad, it is undoubtedly Ferran Torres. The 25-year-old forward has already spent four seasons without settling into the azulgrana XI, but he has performed quite well as a substitute, although he has always been convinced that he can earn a starting position both in Xavi Hernández's cycle and in Hansi Flick's. In a chat with 'TV3', the 'Shark' once again expressed his confidence regarding his chances of replacing Robert Lewandowski in the culé XI.

"I have confidence in myself and I can be the starting center forward for FC Barcelona, why not?", argued the player from Foios. This season, he has scored 11 goals and provided 3 assists in 31 matches (1,105 minutes). In La Liga, his last appearance in the lineup was in matchday 21, against Valencia (7-1), where he scored one of the goals in the azulgrana rout. In the Champions League, he has been a substitute in all four matches played by the team, while in the Cup he has scored 4 goals in 3 appearances (two as a starter).

In this regard, Ferran remained calm about the possible arrival of another scorer to replace Lewandowski. "If the club thinks it needs to look for another, that's fine, but I handle competition very well", added the Spanish international. The attacker has a contract with Barça until 2027 and a release clause of 1 billion euros. However, the club would allow his departure for an offer close to 40 million euros, as long as the forward agrees.

Ferran Torres dismisses market rumors and hopes to renew with Barça

For now, the Premier League sounds like the ideal destination for the 'Shark', as several clubs have shown interest in him in recent months. Newcastle, Aston Villa, and recently Arsenal, aresome of the teams in the 'race' for his signing, in addition to an AC Milan that already tried to convince him to move to Italy last winter market. Beyond the market rumors, the 25-year-old forward shows total calm regarding his future in Barcelona.

And while his renewal is not a topic of conversation in the club's offices for now, Torres trusts that, during the 2025/26 season, a call from the management will come to discuss a potential contract extension. The '7' feels comfortable working under the orders of Hansi Flick, who has managed to utilize his attacking characteristics to place him as a '9' and winger on both sides. In addition to his 4 goals in the Cup, the Valencian has scored 5 goals in La Liga and another 3 in the Champions League, being the most reliable substitute for the azulgrana offense.
