Frenkie de Jong set off alarm bells at FC Barcelona last Sunday. The Dutchman suffered a setback in the 25th minute of the match against Real Sociedad, when he was knocked down in the fight for the ball and felt some initial discomfort in his leg. The '21' remained on the pitch, but in the final stretch of the first half he suffered another injury, this time in his ankle, and was substituted at half-time.

The player himself feared a 'relapse' of the injury that kept him off the pitch for more than five months, but after undergoing medical tests, any physical problem was ruled out. Now, the midfielder is with the Netherlands national team, with whom he will play the next few days of the Nations League, and has sent a reassuring message to Barcelona fans about his physical condition.

Frenkie de Jong's words

In statements to the media of the 'Oranje', the Blaugrana footballer expressed his joy at returning to the Dutch team after more than a year of absence, and when asked about his injury he said that "I'm fine, I have some pain but I think everything will be fine."

Finally, De Jong recalled how his recovery process was from the ankle injury that prevented him from playing in the last Euro Cup. "It was difficult, it was a very painful injury. I missed many games and the most important thing was the Euro Cup, of course. I started playing again. I'm growing back to 100% where I should be in terms of form and physical condition, so at the moment I feel good," he concluded.
