FC Barcelona welcomes the news that Marc-André ter Stegen has begun his rehabilitation process after injury, performing his first physical activities

Calendar of FC Barcelona

One of the toughest blows that FC Barcelona has received so far in the 2024-25 season is undoubtedly the injury to Marc-André ter Stegen. Firstly, because the German is a key player in the Blaugrana squad, serving as the captain and the guardian of the goal, considered one of the best in the world in this position; and secondly, due to the nature and severity of the injury.

It's important to remember that Ter Stegen suffered this injury on September 22 during the match between Barcelona and Villarreal CF at the Estadio de la Cerámica, corresponding to the sixth round of LaLiga EA Sports. In that fateful game, in the 44th minute, in an unfortunate incident, the native of Mönchengladbach jumped to catch an aerial ball and upon landing incorrectly after the jump, he visibly injured his right knee.

Following medical examinations by the club's medical staff, the unfortunate diagnosis of a ruptured patellar tendon in the right knee was confirmed. This led Ter Stegen, who had previously undergone a similar surgery, to undergo another surgical intervention under the care of Dr. Joan Carles Monllau, with an estimated recovery time of at least 6 to 7 months.

Ter Stegen has already started his rehabilitation process

Fortunately for FC Barcelona, Ter Stegen appears to be facing his recovery process with great optimism and determination to return to the field in full condition as soon as possible. Recently, through the club's website, encouraging images have been released showing the beginning of the path to the speedy recovery of the German goalkeeper.

On the Barcelona website, more than eight images can be seen showing Marc-André ter Stegen performing exercises at the Ciudad Deportiva Joan Gamper, carrying out a series of individual workouts. In these photographs, the German goalkeeper can be seen, with protection on his right leg, performing various physical exercises, including throws with a medicine ball, which is characterized by having a different weight than a standard soccer ball.

Additionally, he is seen doing exercises with resistance bands. These images are very encouraging and suggest that, although the return of the German goalkeeper is not imminent, the fact that he has started his physical recovery process is undoubtedly an excellent sign that fuels optimism about his return in full condition.
