FC Barcelona hopes to be able to count on its defender Andreas Christensen again, but when? We tell you at FCBN

Calendar of FC Barcelona

The FC Barcelona begins to look optimistically at the return of one of its injured players: Andreas Christensen. It's worth remembering that the Danish defender was one of the first Barcelona players to fall on the injured list during the era of Hansi Flick. To date, in the 2024-25 season, he has only participated in one match, playing 26 minutes in the victory of the Blaugrana against Valencia CF (1-2), entering the field in the 64th minute in place of Pau Cubarsí.

Since then, we have not seen Christensen wear the blue and garnet jersey again, following the confirmation on August 24, after the necessary medical examinations, that he was suffering from tendinopathy in the Achilles of his left leg. Initially, it was estimated that he would be out for a maximum of two months, but his recovery has been prolonged, now reaching four months (including corrective surgery), and positive forecasts for his return are just beginning to emerge.

In this sense, it is expected that Christensen will return to action with Barcelona during this month of January. This seems imminent as he has already rejoined the team's training sessions, showing consistency and progress indicating that he will soon receive medical clearance. His return will provide depth in the central defense position, where Pau Cubarsí and Iñigo Martínez are the current starters, followed by Ronald Araujo and Eric García.

When will Andreas Christensen be available for Barcelona again?

Now, when is Andreas Christensen's return specifically expected? Regarding this matter, Hansi Flick appeared in a press conference prior to the match between UD Barbastro and FC Barcelona in the round of 16 of the 2024-25 Copa del Rey, where he referred to the chances of the '15' Culé participating in that match, which are scarce. "Andreas is doing very well. He has improved in training, he is doing well. But it is still early for him to be in Barbastro," he started by saying.

However, the German coach has shown better prospects regarding Christensen's potential participation in the next match of the Catalan team, asserting that "we will see if we can bring him to the Supercopa." Nor is the option ruled out that he may join the team for the next LaLiga EA Sports match against Getafe CF on January 18 at the Coliseum. With this in mind, it is clear that it won't be long before we see Andreas back in the Blaugrana shirt.
