FC Barcelona will be looking for their fourth consecutive Champions League victory this Tuesday, November 26 against Brest at Montjuïc. Before the match, Hansi Flick appeared before the media at a press conference and, in addition to giving his team a 'wake-up call' for the two consecutive setbacks in LaLiga, he confirmed the absences of Lamine Yamal and Alejandro Balde for the match.
Regarding the great level shown by the French team in the tournament, where they occupy fourth position in the table, the German assured that "Brest is doing very well in the previous matches, they have ten points and we already saw what they did in Salzburg. They are a good team and we have to focus on this match and that is what we are going to do, our objective is to beat them."
"For us it will be very important to have control of the ball and finish the attacks to get the three points," added Flick regarding the keys for the Barça team to achieve victory at the Lluís Companys.
Two consecutive games without a win in LaLiga
When asked about the team's occasional disconnections in the last two 'setbacks' suffered in LaLiga, the coach said that "we have a young team, the youngest in LaLiga and it is not always a highway, you have to be careful in certain situations during the 90 minutes. With 0-2 in our favor and with the red card we had to have defended better than we did."
However, he downplayed the situation by stating that "I always think positively, that's what I said, it's a young team and during the season it's normal to have some situations like that, for me the important thing is to learn from it. The quality of the players is very high and we have to show it on the field, and we want to start showing it tomorrow, but the process of this very young team is part of football."
In addition, he revealed the elements that, together with his staff, he has reinforced to improve these flaws in the team. "It's important for us that the players know that they are good, that they have quality and that they have to follow us. We want to teach them that they have to play together, to be well connected on the pitch. It's incredible to see how they can play but you have to transfer it to the game and that's what we're focusing on," he said.
Flick confirmed two big exclusions for the match against Brest
Finally, Flick confirmed that both Alejandro Balde and Lamine Yamal will not be part of the squad against Brest. Regarding the left-back, the coach said that "last week he had muscle problems and before the match (against Celta) he was the same and we thought he could play but it wasn't possible, today he was better and he could be an option for other matches but not for tomorrow."
For his part, he regretted the absence of the '19', although he revealed that he could be present on Saturday against Las Palmas. "Lamine has a quality that allows you to control the ball, but also allows the opponent to give us more space. I think and hope that this is the last game he misses because today he was very good but we will have to wait. I hope that on Saturday he will be an option, perhaps from the bench, but we will see," he concluded.
