Hansi Flick addressed the press ahead of the Copa match against Betis. The German spoke about Araujo and Ansu Fati and left the future of both players at Barça open-ended.

In the lead-up to the round of 16 Copa del Rey match against Real Betis, Hansi Flick spoke to the media at a press conference. The German stated that FC Barcelona must "demonstrate the same attitude and the same concentration. Every pass, every run has to be perfect against Betis because they are a very good team".

After thrashing Real Madrid, the Barça coach made it clear that his team must maintain the same level shown in the Supercopa de España final in the upcoming matches. "I can feel that it was a giant victory. Winning with this result is huge and I am proud of the club and the fans. But we have to prove it again", he stated.

"For me, the performance on Sunday is what should give us the confidence that we can win every match. But it’s not easy. And I think the players know that. The mentality is key, playing as a team. For me, that is crucial", he continued.

When asked if he has discussed with the club's sporting director, Deco, about bringing in reinforcements this January, Flick stated, "I talk to Deco daily. I am happy with the team", before revealing how he experienced the registration mess of Olmo and Pau Víctor. "I believed in the club and had confidence. The focus has to be on the field and I think we have done well. And we also have to prove that tomorrow", he confessed.

Similarly, the Barça coach commented on the delicate situation of Ansu Fati in the team, stating that "when I arrived at Barça, I said that Ansu was doing very well and working very hard, but the problems after his first injury... have meant that he has never been able to show his 100%, it's a shame".

"When we arrived, we were convinced that he could come back, but for now, he will have to work, like everyone else, to return and offer his best version".

Regarding the future of Ronald Araújo, increasingly uncertain due to Juventus' insistence on signing him, the German played coy by stating that "what I discuss with the players stays with me. He is a Barcelona player and nothing changes. We are not happy with Iñigo's injury, who is a leader. But we already saw Araújo against Madrid, he is a fantastic center-back. Strong, one of the best. And he showed that he is a leader".

Laporta's Statements and His Future at Barça

Regarding Joan Laporta's speech and his emphasis on the existence of external enemies of the club, Flick assured that "we are focused on ourselves. I focus on what I can change. I believe we are a great family and that is fantastic. The players talk, the relationship is incredible. Everyone is proud to play. We are proud of what we believe. I believe in the players".

"If you see that everything works and that everyone is there, players, staff... The coaches who were here before, physios, media... what can be expected from our team. Sometimes we are insecure... but we have shown the most important thing: we have success. That’s what we want. Everyone is around the team. We want to win titles. We won one on Sunday. The bar is incredible. Everyone knows what they have to do. We have to prove it again and again, that we are good. The day is tomorrow", he continued.

Finally, the coach deflected questions when asked if he envisions having a long career at Barça. "I don’t think about that because in football things can change a lot, and quickly. I like working at Barça, but I have a year and a half left on my contract", he concluded.
