Hansi Flick clarified how Ansu Fati is physically in the press conference prior to Girona-Barça. Although the one from Bissau will not be in Montilivi, he could enter the list for the debut in the Champions League against Monaco
Hansi Flick spoke about Ansu Fati's physical condition in the press conference prior to Girona-Barça (Sunday, 16:15 CEST). Although the '10' will not travel to Montilivi, the coach hopes to have him for the debut in the UEFA Champions League against AS Monaco, as long as he can train fully in the sessions on Monday and Tuesday, since the culés will travel on Wednesday to the Principality.
"We are very happy to have him back among us. Looking ahead to the next few weeks, there will be many opportunities. It is very good to have both of them (also referring to Gavi). With Ansu we are focusing on Thursday," explained the man from Heidelberg. The coach, true to his custom, did not want to take risks with any player and made it clear that, in Montilivi, there are no doubts physically.
"Everyone wants to play, everyone is ready to play... I have no doubt about it," added the German. Unlike Flick, Míchel did keep the participation of Venezuelan Yangel Herrera in suspense, who was injured just before the break. Barça's squad for the duel against Girona includes three newcomers from the reserve team, including Guille Fernández and the new African 'pearls', David Oduro and Abdul Aziz Issah, who landed this week in Catalonia.
Ansu could reappear with Barça almost a year and a month later
Ansu Fati last wore the Barça shirt on August 27, 2023 against Villarreal (3-4). The winger entered the second half, playing 14 minutes in the duel played at El Madrigal. Days later he left on loan to Brighton. If he receives a medical discharge and travels to Monaco, the man from Bissau will reappear with Barça almost a year and a month later, again with the '10' on his back that he inherited from Leo Messi. In total, the 21-year-old forward has 29 goals and 10 assists in 112 official games with the first team.
