Barça are leading La Liga on their own and have positioned themselves as the main contenders to win the title. Although Real Madrid are confident that they can turn things around with the help of their stars, Hansi Flick is very clear about his plan to win the championship
Hansi Flick's new FC Barcelona have had an excellent start in La Liga. The Blaugranas remain unbeaten, registering four wins in the first four games of the championship and leading Real Madrid by four points. Although the Santiago Bernabéu is confident of turning things around with the help of its stars, in Barcelona the hopes have skyrocketed and the German coach has a very clear roadmap to 'defeat' the supposed 'galacticos'.
"It's only the fourth game, I know that can change quickly. It's good that the fans are happy, but our job is to continue because this is a long one. We are well prepared, but we know that football moves very fast and changes dynamics quickly," said the German after the thrashing against Valladolid. The coach knows that the 'race' is long, so bragging right now could be detrimental in the future. The high level of the Merengue squad, together with the arrival of Mbappé and the problems of 'fair play' of Barça that have prevented the incorporation of more reinforcements, are real arguments for those who consider that, on paper, Ancelotti has an advantage over Hansi.
For this reason, caution reigns at Can Barça. The culés have seen that increasing the expectations of the fans is useless, so, according to 'SPORT', sources within the club repeat that snatching the championship from the whites is a possible task, but difficult. In other words, the Blaugrana squad does not feel, nor does it want to feel, like a favourite.
In this sense, Flick's plan is quite clear. In the head of the coach, whether or not the Madrid team has a better squad than Barça is irrelevant. And to those who refute his theory, the German counters them by assuring that, beyond what happens in the two Clásicos, if his team fulfills its duties in the remaining 36 rounds of the competition, they will be undisputed champions.
Flick's idea
This does not mean, by any means, that the German considers that his Barça cannot defeat Madrid. On the contrary, the Catalans proved to be superior in the pre-season tour, even if it was a friendly. Flick's objective is to keep the dressing room with its feet on the ground and that they focus their efforts on being consistent week after week against the remaining 18 teams in LaLiga. In this section there is no doubt: the Catalans are much better and, consequently, each stumble will be a lost opportunity.
