Ansu Fati played his first minutes under Hansi Flick in Monaco. The German has full confidence in the striker and has drawn up a roadmap to get him back to his best and help the team
Last Thursday, Ansu Fati wore the Barça shirt for the first time in more than a year. In a 'hostile' context, with the result against them and one less, Hansi Flick decided to bring him on in the final minutes of the match against Monaco. Despite the fact that the player barely had any impact in a match that was already decided, the German coach showed his confidence in him and started the plan that he and his staff have designed to recover his best form.
The German's roadmap with the striker was cut short in the preseason by the plantar fasciitis suffered by the '10', which kept him on the sidelines for approximately a month. Once recovered from this physical setback, the footballer has been responsible for leaving good feelings in a Flick who has personally monitored him throughout all his training sessions to show him affection and confidence in his football.
Barça's plan with Ansu
Within the plan drawn up by Flick's coaching staff, entering the squad for the Champions League debut was one of the first steps. In fact, the coach himself admitted in a press conference that "Ansu is ready to play. I know what his favourite position is, but I'm not going to say it here, tomorrow you will be able to see what position he plays. When he is on the pitch he has a lot of fun and scores goals in training."
Fati is returning to training at a high level, showing the spark that seemed to have lost and with aim in front of goal, being able to withstand high intensities. Factors that do not go unnoticed by Flick, who in Monaco placed him on the left wing with a tendency to venture into the centre of the attack, and although he was barely able to influence the attack, the truth is that it is only the beginning of his recovery plan.
Fati is already thinking about a possible starting position
According to 'SPORT', the idea is for Ansu to gradually gain weight in the first team. Hansi believes that the attacker can be very useful for the squad and against Villarreal, he will almost certainly get minutes again. The player needs to find his match and competition rhythm again, and could even start against Getafe in Montjuïc or next weekend in Pamplona against Osasuna. Everything will depend on the team's context, although the load of games will give him more prominence.
On the other hand, the confidence and level that the player offers will also be key to defining his role in Flick's scheme. The German is convinced that he can contribute a lot and be relevant in his scheme, so from now on the 'ball is in the player's court'.
