Hansi Flick has confirmed the FC Barcelona squad for the fifth matchday of LaLiga against Girona. The Blaugrana team will visit Motilivi with the aim of getting a victory that will allow them to maintain their unbeaten record and the lead in the championship
FC Barcelona are back in action in the EA Sports LaLiga 2024/25 this Sunday, September 15, against Girona. The match will take place at Montilivi, a difficult stadium for the Blaugrana team, who last season were beaten by Míchel's team at the Albirrojo stadium. However, the Catalans' great start to the campaign invites hope with a good score in favor of the Blaugranas, who remain undefeated in the local championship with four wins in four games.
For this match, Hansi Flick has announced a squad that includes 21 players. Although he returned to first team training this week and left very good feelings, Ansu Fati has finally not entered the German coach's list for the duel against the 'Girona' squad. The Spanish-Bissau-Guinean took advantage of the international break to complete his preparation, but in the end the Blaugrana coach decided not to risk him and his return to top competition will be gradual.
The numerous absences from the first team due to physical problems force Flick to continue drawing on the youth team to complete the list of players called up for the clash against the 'neighbours'. Players such as Diego Kochen, Héctor Fort, Gerard Martín, Guillermo and Sergi Domínguez return to a squad that suffered the loss of Fermín López after having suffered a muscle injury in the rectus femoris of his left thigh, an inconvenience that will keep him off the pitch, in principle, for three weeks.
FC Barcelona squad for Girona

- Jules Koundé
- Héctor Fort
- Eric García
- Ferran Torres

- Lamine Yamal
- Pau Víctor

Will Hansi Flick start the rotations?
Although the German is expected to start with a typical eleven, logic suggests that he could introduce some changes to the line-up to protect his players' legs in view of the tight schedule ahead. Lamine Yamal could be one of those 'sacrificed', since the player finished the last League match against Valladolid with a knock and, despite ruling out an injury, he was a starter in Spain's matches in the Nations League.
In this sense, the Blaugrana 'jewel' could have minutes of rest to make way for Ferran Torres, who continues his personal fight with the aim of making a place for himself in the German's line-up. For his part, Marc Casadó would once again take over the centre of midfield due to the absences of Bernal and Frenkie de Jong, but it would not be a surprise if the Barça coach began his rotation plan in view of the two difficult clashes that are coming up against Monaco and Villarreal in their respective home grounds.
