Hansi Flick is already experiencing his first controversial episodes with refereeing in LaLiga EA Sports, and all of this has him quite surprised, why?
It is no secret that Spanish refereeing has recently been under scrutiny, why? Due to some controversial performances that have left much to be desired, being a widespread reality that affects all teams, as several of them have expressed on occasion their discontent with the refereeing collective, thanks to the disparity and sometimes lack of clarity in the criteria used by referees to judge certain actions in the game.
In this context, a figure who seems to be completely surprised by the work of the referees in Spanish football is the coach of FC Barcelona, Hansi Flick. It should be noted that the 59-year-old German coach was recently sent off in the match between Real Betis and Barça at the Benito Villamarín. A certainly controversial expulsion, justified by referee Alejandro Muñiz Ruiz in his match report as: "for leaving the technical area shouting and gesturing, protesting one of my decisions". A matter that, according to the German coach and the Barcelona club, was not the case, as the native of Heidelberg had expressed some discontent, but more inclined towards himself and not towards the referee of the match.
The alleged discontent of Hansi Flick with the refereeing of LaLiga EA Sports
Now, according to comments made in the podcast 'Barça reservat', actions like this would have surprised Hansi Flick, who, according to this information, does not understand certain refereeing decisions and perceives a differential treatment towards Barcelona compared to other teams. It is even asserted that the German coach would have considered raising his voice publicly and forcefully to express his complaint about this situation, but he would have been stopped from doing so by the Barcelona locker room.
At the same time, the mentioned source suggests that Hansi Flick is also astonished by the lack of criticism from the press and a more forceful response from Barcelona.
Even in the press conference prior to the match against CD Leganés, Hansi Flick accepted his sanction but did not hesitate to point out that "the referees must decide in the same way on all benches, not just with Barcelona".
Will this alleged discontent of the German with refereeing have any consequences?
It is worth recalling that the German coach had only experienced refereeing in the Bundesliga and in international sports during his time with the German national team, which could explain his lack of understanding of the alleged differences in criteria between him and other LaLiga EA Sports coaches regarding refereeing sanctions. Now it remains to be seen how this situation develops, will this alleged complaint from Hansi Flick towards the refereeing collective have any future repercussions?
