FC Barcelona recovered Frenkie de Jong on Tuesday, reducing the list of injured culés to 7. In October, the club expects Dani Olmo, Fermín and Gavi

Calendar of FC Barcelona

The FC Barcelona squad hopes to recover three key players for Hansi Flick this October. After Frenkie de Jong's return against Young Boys, Dani Olmo, Fermín López and Pablo Gavi are facing the final stretch of their respective recoveries, although the club has not yet specified when they will be given the all-clear. The Barça infirmary has 7 injured players, 2 of whom will be out for the rest of 2024/25.

These are the cases of Marc Bernal and Marc-André ter Stegen, both in the process of recovery after undergoing surgery. The other two injured players, Andreas Christensen and Ronald Araújo, also have no return date, although the 'charrúa' is ruled out, at least, until January. The Dane, for his part, could reappear in November if he manages to overcome the tendinopathy in the left Achilles that he has suffered since the summer.

Dani Olmo should return before the Clasico

The attacking midfielder suffered an injury to the femoral biceps of his right thigh after the thrashing by Girona at Montilivi. In principle, the time he would be out was 4 or 5 weeks, so Barça will try to recover him in time for the first Clasico of the season, on Saturday 26 October. The Catalans will face Bayern Munich in the Champions League that same week, a match in which the presence of the player from Terrassa will also be very important.

Fermín, on high alert to avoid another relapse

The midfielder suffered an injury to the rectus femoris of his right leg when he was preparing to receive medical clearance before the Champions League debut against Monaco. The relapse of the injury suffered the first week of September forced him to stay in the Barça infirmary for three more weeks. If all goes well, Fermín should be ready to reappear on 20 October at home, against Sevilla. However, the club is keeping the player from El Campillo on high alert to avoid another injury, the third in a row.

Gavi hopes to get minutes in the first week of November

For its part, the deadlines with Gavi point to giving him progressive minutes at the beginning of November, perhaps in the Catalan derby against Espanyol. The Andalusian will complete a year since his terrible injury to his right knee on November 19 and, although the Andalusian has shown significant progress in recent weeks, the precedents with Ansu Fati and Pedri González mean that the club is minimising risks with physical loads, especially when dealing with a footballer who is distinguished by his intensity on the pitch.
