Joan Laporta has made a necessary appearance before the media, during which the president of FC Barcelona clarified several important issues related to the club. In this intervention, the Blaugrana leader shed light on various matters, including a topic that kept the entire Barcelona fanbase on edge: the registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor. 'Jan' detailed this topic from the onset of the controversy until the final obtaining of the precautionary measure.
The highest representative of the Catalan entity began by highlighting that the club submitted the documentation in a timely manner to carry out the registration and mentioned the initial obstacles that arose concerning this issue. "We submitted the documentation on December 27, just before the end of the year, LaLiga asked us for more documents, and on the 31st we had the 1:1. LaLiga added additional requirements that were not in the standard for us," warned Laporta.
At the same time, 'Jan' emphasized why he considered the refusal to grant the license for the registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor unjustified: "The Federation received the documentation and for them, there were no problems, but the 1:1 was missing. The interpretation of an obsolete article did not give us the license. It was not correct for us."
"We did not enter a hypothesis for a player to be registered with various clubs during the same season. In our case, the players had contracts, and it was an extension of the license."
Likewise, Joan Laporta clarified how the situation was ultimately resolved despite the clear adversities faced by Barcelona. "On the 3rd, we completed the documentation. LaLiga gave us the fair play. We submitted the license requests to the Federation, but it was halted due to an obsolete article. We went to the CSD. For them to issue an urgent precautionary measure, there must be difficult-to-repair damage, as was the case. Also, to appreciate the appearance of good right. The CSD and the state attorney valued the precautionary measure," he commented.
The role of the CSD in the case of the registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor
In addition, Laporta emphasized what concerns the measure granted by the CSD, which establishes a maximum period of three months to resolve the registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor. "The CSD makes the decision on the appeal. That the CSD with the state attorney granted the precautionary measure means there is an appearance of good right. This is fundamental. Reading the resolution, they even consider the nullity of the administrative act, that the body was not competent, as many jurists have said, to grant the licenses," 'Jan' recounted.
In that context, the Catalan lawyer estimates that this matter will be resolved soon and favorably for FC Barcelona, especially to avoid harming the players. "Everything will be resolved fully to the legality, and our requests will be considered so that the interests of our players are not harmed again. The law is clear on the right to work," Laporta noted.
"The players have not incurred in the assumption provided in the referenced article. They started with Barça and continue with Barça because they have an active employment contract. It has not ended. We have not taken advantage of the circumstances to reinforce ourselves with two players. They were already here and will continue to be."
Furthermore, the Blaugrana president highlighted the correct actions of the Superior Sports Council in this situation and, of course, the efforts of the legal department of Barcelona to find the necessary legal avenues to defend the interests of the club. "That the CSD has granted the precautionary measure and that in its reference it also refers to the administrative act and the lack of competence of the organization to issue this decision. The damages were difficult to repair and there was an appearance of good right.", he pointed out.
"Our appeal has been praised by prestigious jurists and the relevant bodies."
The 'antagonistic' role of LaLiga
Additionally, Joan Laporta wanted to expose the role of LaLiga in the registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor. "LaLiga is within its rights to request additional documentation, and I'm not going to criticize that. But I think that they have acted against their own interests because in similar cases they had not asked for it. On the 31st, we had to request the auditors' reports. It has been a superlative tension. Due to the urgency of the time, it was excessive to ask for it," emphasized 'Jan'.
"They asked us for data formally. On December 31, everything was submitted in form and time. Only the documents needed to be accredited, but we were missing some reports that are sometimes requested to guarantee the viability of investors. They asked us for a deposit of 40 million."
At the same time, the culé president expressed that LaLiga has probably been more rigid with Barcelona than with other clubs regarding this case. "The non-payment of Barça Vision impacted LaLiga's criteria to demand more requirements from us. But they are attributing to us a non-payment from a company that was on the Frankfurt stock market. This group had already paid 20 million," revealed Laporta.
"Sometimes they impose devilish conditions on us. Other clubs have also not paid, and we have not been penalized like us."
The feelings of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor amid the uncertainty over their registration resolution
In this context, Joan Laporta also had space to talk about how poorly Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor have been amid the uncertainty over their registration. "Dani and Pau have suffered a lot. They and their families. It is not pleasant. We told them we would register them because we had the legal reason.", 'Jan' commented.
"They suffered because they could not play and the consequences."
At this point, Laporta also wanted to highlight the excellent behavior exhibited by Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor in this situation. "They have behaved excellently. Worried, but trying not to disturb the group's dynamic. We explained everything to them, even though it did not depend solely on us, but on an organization. We did not give up in the face of justice, and we achieved it," concluded the Blaugrana leader.
