Joao Cancelo posted an emotional farewell message to Barça on his Instagram account. The Portuguese, who will head to Al-Hilal, remembered the Catalan club before travelling to Saudi Arabia
Joao Cancelo's return to Barcelona is one of FC Barcelona's 'unfulfilled dreams' in this transfer market. The Portuguese returned to Manchester City once his loan with Xavi Hernandez's team expired, and aware of his desire to leave the Etihad Stadium to wear the Barça shirt again, the Catalans set to work to have him back in their ranks after Hansi Flick gave the 'green light' to the operation.
However, the problems with Barça's financial 'fair play', added to the high demands of the 'Citizen' institution, prevented the Portuguese full-back from putting himself under the orders of the German coach for the next season. In this context, the Portuguese ended up accepting the offer from Al-Hilal for Neymar Jr., who will pay the 'skyblues' a figure of 25 million euros for the transfer of the player, who will sign for three seasons, until June 2027, with the Saudi team.
Before heading to the Arabian Peninsula, Cancelo published on his social networks, specifically on his Instagram account, an emotional message for the Blaugrana fans for what they experienced during the year that the defender defended the Barça shield on loan. "We never give up..." read the footballer's post, which added "Visca el Barça siempre" along with a blue heart and a red one.
The response of a Barça star
After Joao's post, Gavi posted an image on his social networks in which he appears hugging the Portuguese, accompanying it with a message that said "Always on my team, brother" with a heart. The Portuguese reposted the photograph published by the midfielder, adding a message of appreciation to his former teammate. "I love you, brother," replied the full-back, along with two hearts, blue and red, in reference to the colours of the Barça team.
